Matt Blesso’s Blesso Properties is breaking ground on the Pavilion nightclub on Fire Island after it was destroyed in a November 2011 fire; only his second project in the UK, Patron Steven Holl will design a hospital for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre; David Manfredi unveiled plans to redesign the Suffolk Downs racetrack in East Boston, adding a casino and resort; former New York Knick Clyde Frazier opened a restaurant in West Midtown designed by Board Member Thom Mayne’s Morphosis Architects (pictured at left); the nonprofit arm of John Palmieri’s Casino Reinvestment Development Authority will put on a video and light show to attract visitors to Atlantic City; Robert A.M. Stern will design the American Revolution Center in Philadelphia; Donna Walcavage served as the landscape architect for the newly open Polo Grounds Community Center in West Harlem.

James Crispino’s firm, Francis Cauffman, has completed extensive renovations on the new Wilmington offices of Delaware law firm Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor; David Manfredi’s firm, Elkus Manfredi, will design The Galleria at Sowwah Square, a new luxury retail destination in Abu Dhabi; Michael Manfredi’s new Visitor Center opens this week at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (pictured above); along with Robert Rogers and Peter Walker, Weiss/Manfredi was also selected to redesign sites along the National Mall in Washington, DC (in a competition overseen by Don Stastny); Board Member Thom Mayne will design the first academic building for Cornell’s engineering campus on Roosevelt Island, as covered in the New York Times and New York; the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation named Barbara Wilks to draw up redevelopment plans for an island on the Bow River.

In an interview with New York, Craig Dykers outlined Snøhetta’s proposal for a revamped Times Square; Princeton University submitted plans for their new Arts and Transit project, with work by Patron Steven Holl, to the Regional Planning Board of Princeton; the Boston Redevelopment Authority approved the development of a residential complex designed by David Manfredi (pictured above), one that will include micro-apartments, or so-called ‘innovation units’; Robert A.M. Stern will design a residential tower next to Hudson Yards.

Last week, it was announced that Deborah Berke will expand the Rockefeller Arts Center at SUNY Fredonia and design a new 21c Museum Hotel in Lexington, KY; Matt Blesso opened a luxury, eco-conscious hotel in Panama City; a new lab and office building designed by David Manfredi’s firm in Kendall Square celebrated its topping off; Linda Pollak’s firm designed the new Dutch Kills Green park at Queens Plaza (pictured at left), officially opened by Mayor Bloomberg on 4/4; a new Robert A.M. Stern building for Webster University opened in St. Louis; Peter Walker will develop the landscape for UT Dallas‘ Campus Enhancement Plan; a student center at Duke University will be designed by Andrew Whalley’s Grimshaw Architects; Barbara Wilks has been selected to renovate the Troy Riverfront Park on the Hudson in Troy, NY.

The Dempsey (pictured at left), a sustainable, affordable housing complex in Harlem designed by Richard Dattner’s firm, celebrated its opening; the University of Massachusetts has announced that David Manfredi’s Elkus Manfredi will design a new bioprocessing center for their Dartmouth campus; India saw the opening of its first Park Hyatt hotel, located in Hyderabad and developed by John Portman & Associates; Board Member Claire Weisz and her WXY Architecture + Urban Design have been chosen as lead designers for the East River Blueway, a community-based waterfront planning initiative in Manhattan.
