New York City Council Testimony

greener_greater_buildingsInstitute executive director Olympia Kazi testified in front of the New York City Council Environmental Protection Committee about the package of four bills that mandate energy efficiency upgrades for a great part of the existing NYC building stock. Kazi’s testimony included comments from the third fellows’ Breakfast Club that focused on the Greener Greater Buildings Plan initiative of PlaNYC. Laurie Kerr leads the round-table discussion.

Institute fellows gathered at the New York Center for Architecture for the third fellows’ Breakfast Club, chaired by Institute fellow Laurie Kerr, Senior Policy Advisor at NYC Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability, who led the discussion on the “greening” of New York City’s building code.

Los Angeles Film Festival

Institute board member Thom Mayne was one of the Artists in Residence for the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival, where he hosted a discussion and screening with cinematographer Frederick Elmes about architecture and cinema.
