Tuesday, April 28th, 2009As part of the lecture series “Access Restricted: Capital of the World”, Institute fellow Tom Angotti gave a talk about the history of grassroots community urban planning in New York designed to sustain neighborhoods. The lecture, called “Bottom-Up Planning in the Real Estate Capital of the World”, was organized by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

Actions for Urban Spaces Panel

Michael Sorkin Elected to American Academy of Arts & Sciences
Wednesday, April 15th, 2009Michael Sorkin, chair of the Institute’s board of directors, was elected to be a fellow at the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He will be inducted into the Academy at a ceremony on October 10th 2009, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Professor Sorkin was one of 210 leaders from the science, humanities, arts, business, public affairs, and nonprofit sectors elected to join one of the United States’ most prestigious honorary societies.
